Admissions Process
Every Covenant applicant has a family interview with the Dean of Students. It is not an interrogation. It is a conversation. Here is what to expect.
The Covenant admissions interview exists because we believe a transcript does not tell us who a student is. It tells us what they have done. We want to know who they are, what they care about, what they wonder about, and whether Covenant is the right place for this particular person at this particular moment in their life.
The interview is also an opportunity for your student to ask us questions. We want them to leave the interview knowing more about Covenant than when they walked in.
There is no right way to interview at Covenant. We are not looking for the most polished answer. We are looking for an honest one.
You will be welcomed by the Dean of Students, who will explain how the conversation will work. No surprises.
Your interviewer will ask your student about their interests, their school experience, their faith, their friendships, and what they are hoping to find at Covenant. These are open-ended questions, not tests.
Your student will have the chance to ask anything they want. We encourage them to come with real questions, not just polite ones.
Parents are typically included for part of the interview, especially around questions about fit, faith, and expectations. This is a family decision and we want to hear from the whole family.
Before you leave, your interviewer will walk you through what happens next in the process and when you can expect to hear back.
There is no way to fail the Covenant admissions interview by being yourself. The best preparation is a real conversation at home about why your family is considering Covenant and what your student is looking for.
Most interviews run 45 to 60 minutes. Plan for up to 90 minutes including any time to see the campus afterward.
Yes. Parents are welcome and expected. Part of the conversation will be directed at your family as a whole.
That is normal. Your interviewer is trained to put students at ease. The conversation is designed to feel natural, not formal.
No. Each interview is individual, with your student and your family meeting with the Dean of Students.
The Dean of Students will complete the notes and share them with the admissions committee. You will hear back within a few weeks.
Yes, and we encourage it. Seeing the campus when students are present gives your family the best sense of what Covenant is actually like.
