A religion confined to the closet, … or the church, therefore , the Christian abhors. With the Psalmist, he calls upon heaven and earth, he calls upon all peoples and nations to give glory to God. God is present in all life, … and no sphere of human life is conceivable in which religion does not maintain its demands ..Wherever man may stand, whatever he may do, to whatever he may apply his hand, in agriculture, in commerce, and in industry, or his mind, in the world of art, and science, he is, in whatsoever it may be, constantly standing before the face of his God, he is employed in the service of his God, he has strictly to obey his God, and above all, he has to aim at the glory of his God.

These words were penned by Abraham Kuyper, an educator, journalist, politician, theologian and ultimately the prime minister of the Netherlands in 1901. Kuyper believed that Christianity was not a religion of personal and private piety but a religion where piety permeates all of life and impacts culture. Covenant Christian High School was founded on the idea that the Lordship of Christ extends to every inch of creation. Our desire was not only to train students to be men and women of worship but also to be scholars, leaders and statesmen and servants. With Kuyper, we believe that a Christianity reserved for the sanctuary was a misrepresentation of what God intended for his people and his world.

It is in this spirit that we recognize individuals whose faith is being lived out in today's culture. We believe that one of the best ways that we can train students about living this way is to honor and recognize those who are actually making a difference. Each year we present the community Heart of Covenant award to such a person.

Dear Covenant Parents:

We hope your school year has started with excitement and anticipation. As the doors of Covenant opened for this new school year, we know that a lot of prayer and preparation have gone into planning for this year. Whether you are new to the Covenant experience, or a returning parent, we are certain that your students will be encouraged, challenged, and engaged by Covenant’s outstanding teachers and staff.

Because we are so passionate about what Covenant does in the lives of its students, we are privileged once again to serve as the Chairs for this year’s major parent-sponsored fundraiser, Covenant Celebrates! This year’s annual dinner and auction is going to be a wonderful evening in which we celebrate God’s faithfulness to the Covenant family. This year’s theme truly captures the essence of all that God has done on behalf of the Covenant family: “Miracle on 21st Street.” Now, more than ever with the current economic difficulties faced by many families, is the time to gather and praise God for the many “miracles” that happen each day in the hallways and classrooms at CCHS.

We are planning a unique and special evening that you won’t want to miss. It is our desire that every family have the opportunity to attend this special evening. Tickets for the event are $50 per person. In addition, the purchase of your tickets may be charged to your CCHS account. We hope this makes it easier for all of you to attend and celebrate with us the many miracles on 21st Street! You will soon be receiving a formal invitation to this event, but for now mark your calendar and SAVE THE DATE, Friday, November 6th, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.

We hope to see you there!
