Baseball Coaches

Head Coach

Andrew Gossel is entering his seventh season as the head varsity coach of the Covenant Baseball program, and 13th season as a head varsity baseball coach overall. Gossel is also CCHS' athletic director. He and wife, Laura, have been married for 12 years, and have two sons, Ty (7) and Jake (5) and a daughter, Elyssa (2).

Gossel directed the Warriors to the program’s first sectional title in 2008, leading to being selected as the Indianapolis Star’s City Coach of the Year. He was also awarded 2002 HS/Parks Baseball Field of the Year in 2002 while working at Arlington Baptist School in Baltimore, MD.

Assistant Coaches

Denis Schinderle

Coach Schinderle is entering his sixth year in the Covenant baseball program. "Schin's" enthusiasm, desire to serve the Lord and love of baseball are contagious. His work with outfielders and hitters are invaluable to the team.

Schinderle works for Raytheon in addition to being an IHSAA and college basketball official. He and his wife, Barb, live in Brownsburg. They have a daughter, Sarah (CCHS, 2005), who is a graduate of Huntington College, two sons, Scott (CCHS, 2007, now attending International House of Prayer in Fort Wayne, IN) and Sam, who is a junior at Covenant.

Matt Williams

Matt Williams is entering his third season with the Covenant Baseball coaching staff. Williams came onto the CCHS teaching staff in the fall of 2007, teaching Junior Bible. Matt is also the girls’ varsity basketball coach at CCHS. He is a 2002 graduate of Speedway HS, where he played football, basketball, baseball, and track. He was a member of the 2002 Class 2A State Championship Basketball team. He is also a graduate of Wheaton College and John Brown University.

Nate Gast

Coach Gast has been an important aspect of the Covenant Baseball program. He was instrumental in starting the program in 2001, and was the head coach for the first two seasons. He's also been involved in working with infielders each of the last seven years. Gast is also the assistant principal at Covenant, as well as the strength and conditioning coach.

Justin Moore

Justin Moore, a former CCHS player, joined the coaching staff as a volunteer coach in 2008. “Pillz” was a designated hitter and third basemen for the Warriors for three seasons. Moore is currently studying Social Studies Education and Political Science at IUPUI.

Andrew Stroh

Andrew has become a fixture on the Covenant Baseball staff. He grew up in western Pennsylvania, south of Pittsburgh, and is a 2007 graduate of Rose-Hulman. He works as an engineer and is currently engaged to be married.
