Profile

Facility
CCHS began in the fall of 1995 with a freshman class of 16 in the educational wing of Chapel Rock Christian Church. The school has expanded by adding one grade a year, moving into its new state-of-the-art facility on west 21st Street in the fall of 1997. Facilities include large classrooms, a gymnasium, a beautiful library, a computer lab, an outdoor classroom, athletic fields and tennis courts. The current capacity of CCHS is 400 students in grades 9-12.

Staff
Covenant has a staff of over 50 employees, including 23 full-time and 3 part-time teachers. Our teachers hold the appropriate state certification in their major teaching areas and represent the best and brightest in their field. Our faculty is culturally diverse with teachers from West Africa and Ireland. The school is governed by a board of directors of Christian men and women from throughout Indianapolis. The daily affairs of the school are directed by the CEO/Principal and Dean of Students. CCHS was recently named as the “Best Christian Place to Work” among private Christian high schools by Christianity Today.

Students
Current enrollment is approximately 370 students. In the last 7 years, we have graduated 387 students. Over 90% of each graduating class has enrolled in college. Our student body comes from Christian elementary school, public school, and home-school backgrounds. Admission requires that a student has a 2.5 GPA (C+) and score in the upper 50th percentile on a nationally standardized test. Our students come from throughout central Indiana , and represent over 100 different churches. CCHS has also accepted students from Mexico, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Poland, Germany, Liberia, Haiti, Honduras, Taiwan and Korea.

Accreditation
Covenant Christian High School received full accreditation by the Indiana State Board of Education as a Freeway School in 1997, and it was renewed in 2002. The school earned full accreditation from The Association of Christian Schools International in 2003.

Testing
Our students take the ISTEP+ graduation test in their sophomore year, the PSAT/NMSQT and SATs during their junior year, and seniors take SATs and/or ACTs.

Advanced Placement Classes
CCHS currently offers Advanced Placement (AP) classes in Music Theory, English 12, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science and Calculus. Forty-four of our students took AP exams last year and thirty-three received college credit at the colleges of their choice. CCHS offers two college credit courses from Indiana Wesleyan University via interactive teleconferencing technology to our students on our campus.

Rank/Scholarships/Honors
CCHS does not release academic class rankings beyond the selection of salutatorian and valedictorian for each graduating class. However, Covenant’s most recent graduating class was offered $1.5 million in scholarships, but chose to accept close to $800,000 in merit based scholarships. CCHS has also had six National Merit finalists in its six graduating classes.

CCHS graduates have attended diverse colleges and universities, both out-of state (including the United States Naval Academy, Arizona State University, Asbury College, Boston University, Cedarville University, Cincinnati Christian University, Colorado Christian College, Franklin College, Gordon College, Johnson Bible College, Lee University, Lincoln Bible College, Middle Tennessee State University, Milligan College, University of Missouri-Rolla, Ohio State University, Olivet Nazarene University, Seattle Pacific College, Trinity International University, Walla Wall College and Wheaton College) and within Indiana (including Anderson University, Ball State University, Butler University, DePauw University, ITT, Huntington College, Indiana University, Indiana State University, Indiana Wesleyan University, IUPUI, Manchester College, Purdue University, Rose Hulman Institute, Taylor University, Tri-State University, University of Indianapolis, University of Southern Indiana, Valparaiso University, Vincennes University, and Wabash College).
